Photography 1 (Grades 10, 11, or 12)
The first semester of this course is designed to teach the basic functions and controls of the camera, as well as film developing, and darkroom techniques for making black and white prints. The second semester will provide basis for creative uses of the camera, print and negative manipulation and alternative darkroom techniques. The photographs produced by the students will reflect specific assignments designed to teach fundamental practices and concepts. As the student becomes more proficient in the fundamentals, the assignments allow for more personal and creative responses. Viewing and discussing the work of famous photographers provide a foundation for expanding students critical and expressive skills. A basic theory of photography is an integral component expanding the students understanding of this medium.
