AP Music Theory (Grades 11 or 12)
AP Music Theory is a full-year course. The course will include development of basic skills n music notation, including all clefs, key signatures, and meters. Harmony, counterpoint, arranging, and composition will be taught, Sight singing (the ability to read accurately a music score without the aid of an instrument) and ear training (rhythmic dictation, melodic dictation, and harmonic dictation) will be included. Students who wish to do so may take the AP Music Theory exam in May to earn potential AP credit, though this is not a requirement of the course.
